Nicolae Panin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Black Sea University Foundation. He has collaborated with BSUF since 1992. Former General Director of the National Institute of C&D for Geology and Marine Geoecology – GeoEcoMar (1993-2009); Adviser of the General Director, since 2009; Associate Professor at the University in Bucharest since 1988; Correspondent member of the Romanian Academy since 2003; Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts – 2012; Ph.D. in Sciences from the University of Paris VI in 1974. Prizes and Scientific Distinctions: “Grigore Cobalcescu” prize of the Romanian Academy for Geosciences, 1989; Officier des Palmes Academiques de la Republique Francaise, 1997; Knight of the Order “Faithful Service”, 2000; Medal for the special Black Sea environmental protection, 2010. Expertise: Marine geology and Sedimentology. Research: Black Sea and the Danube Delta, coastal areas and global changes in the past and present. Other activities: Member in the National Committee of Geodesy and Geophysics, President of the National Committee of the International Association of Physics Sciences of the Ocean (IAPSO); Member of the Geologists Association Bureau from Romania; Member of the Romanian Ecologic Society; Member of the National Committee of the Coastal Area. Publications: author of over 90 scientific papers in national and international journals and over 190 studies and scientific reports in marine geo-sciences.
