Correspondent Member of the Romanian Academy Marian-Traian Gomoiu
Born in 1936 in Bazargic, Caliacra County. He is a correspondent member of the Romanian Academy, President of the Oceanography Committee – Limnology of the Romanian Academy. General Director Adjunct, National Research Institute – Development for Geology and Marine Geoecology – Ecology Department; honored professor at the “Al. I. Cuza” University Iasi – Faculty of Biology.
Between 1990 and 1993 he held the position of governor of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reservation with the headquarters in Tulcea.
His scientific results can be found in over 200 scientific studies – in books and periodicals – 75 of them abroad. He received numerous honorary prizes and distinctions, the most important being “Emanoil Teodorescu” Prize of the Romanian Academy (1987) and the International Commission Medal for the Protection of the Black Sea (Istanbul, 2009).
