Ambassador Teodor Viorel Meleșcanu

Born on 10 March 1941 in Brad city, Hunedoara County. He owns a Ph.D. in political sciences and international law from the University of Geneva (1973). Former Minister of Foreign Affairs (1992-1996) and Minister of National Defense (2007-2008). He was former Head and former member of the Romanian delegation at different conference and meetings of specialized agencies of the United Nations, OSCE, European Council, NATO, UEO and regional organizations. He is professor at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bucharest, Department of International Relations, teaching the courses ”Public International Law”, ”European Security” and ”Principles and Practices of Diplomacy”. Also he teaches the course „Theory and Practices of International Negotiations” for the Master’s programme of the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Bucharest and the course” International Public Law” at the Masters course at the Faculty of History in Bucharest. He published a series of papers and scientific publications on international law and diplomacy. In present, he holds the vice-president position of the Association of International Law and International Relation (ADIRI) of Bucharest, and he is member of the Institute of Political Science from Bucharest and of the Romanian Institute of International Studies (RIIS).
